City Information-The market town of Maldon – Essex with an estimated population of 15 513 inhabitants, is located in eastern England in the Sovereign State the United Kingdom. Originally founded by the Saxons in the fifteenth century, the area quickly grew into a major port of Saxony. Maldon was also the home of King Edward the Elder during the battle in north Essex against Danish settlers tried to occupy the area.
Annual Events-A series of interesting events are held in the city on an annual basis as a Day of "Taxi" for disabled children, giving kids the opportunity to be expelled from London to Maldon for a day fun activities and Maldon Mud Race which usually takes place during the first week of January is a swimming gala at low tide, not to mention the freezing temperatures known locally and the Blackwater estuary. Fantastic Victoriana later held during the first two weeks of December to celebrate Victoria Day.
Museums-The cities' rich history can be viewed at Maldon and District Agricultural and Domestic Museum with rural themes dating from the early eighteenth century. If art history and crafts to tickle your fancy a visit to Maeldune Heritage Center is just up to you. An amazing 42 feet long embroidery depicting the history of peoples is also on display at the Center.
Market days – The city has two farmers markets, one in the Swan Hotel and the other in the Carnival Hall. Swan Hotel Market is the first Tuesday of each month and celebrates the Carnival Hall Market Day on the third Sunday of each month.
